Is Gameday Braids only sports related?

Nope! We welcome all who are interested in getting their hair braided for any type of event, whether it’s a sports tournament/competition, school dance, birthday, graduation, or any type of special event!

Do I have to be an athlete to get my hair braided?

Nope! We are more than happy to braid anyone’s hair. Everyone deserves to look good and feel good!

What’s the difference between sports braids, classic braids, and trendy braids?

Sports braids are quick up-do braid styles that we’ve seen on athletes in all types of sports and take less than 15 minutes to braid. Classic braids are your french, dutch, and simple three-strand braids. Lastly, Trendy braids are more complex braids that take longer than 15 minutes and are specifically for special events.

Which braid styles are available at tournaments/competitions and which braid styles are available at special events?

Sports braids and Classic braids are available for sports tournaments/competition and special events, whereas Trendy braids are only available at special events.

What is your One on One session?

Our One on One session is only available at the tournaments we attend. This is where you can meet one of our braid stylists at our pop-up venue and select which type of braid style you’d like to get! Appointments are available to make on our website. Walk-ins are welcome as well!

My friends and I want to get our hair braided together. Is there a group package that we can do?

Yes! Our Team Package is available for our athletes who want to get their hair braided together, say before a tournament/competition or before taking a team photo. The minimum number of participants is 15.

What do you consider a “special event” and what does that look like?

Special events are for any occasion outside of our scheduled tournaments or competitions we attend. Examples we’d consider special events would be birthdays, any school dance, graduations, bachelorette party, baby shower, etc. The Team Package can also be applied to Special Events.

Do I have to have my hair washed before I get my hair braided?

Yes! Please wash your hair and make sure that your hair is dry before your appointment. Having your hair washed and dried will make your appointment a lot easier and quicker. If your hair is not washed or isn’t dry, then your appointment may take longer than expected.

Can you wash and dry my hair at my appointment?

No, we do not offer these services, as we are not a full salon.

Do you use any product in your braid styles?

For tournaments, we only carry a hair gel to help keep the braid style looking more fresh, only if requested. For special events, we carry hair gel and hair spray to keep the style in tact, especially for trendy braids. Other than these two products, we only use water.

I want my braid style to look a little extra special. Is there a way to add anything on top of my braids for them to stand out more?

Sure thing! We offer add ons, such as ribbon, charms, and hair glitter to give your braid style a little extra spunk!

I really want my braids to stay in place once they’re done. Is there any product that you can use for my braids to stick a bit longer?

Of course! We carry a hair gel called Eco Styling Gel with Olive Oil, which can keep your braid in place and still look sleek after a while. Even though we carry this hair gel, we will not use the gel, unless requested. Please let your braid stylist know if you would like to have the hair gel in your braid style.

Can I ask for custom braids?

Absolutely! We just ask that you may email, or make a note when booking your appointment, asking for a custom braid style. Please provide a photo of what you would like as well. Price may vary depending on style.

Do you do braids with extensions or additional hair?

At this time, we do not braid hair with extensions. We do not do braid styles, such as box braids, lemonade braids, locs, or crochet.

I just realized I cannot make my appointment. Will I be charged?

We ask that you notify us 24 hours in advance if you are unable to keep your appointment. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice will be considered a no show. If we are notified within 23 hours or less from your appointment time, your deposit will be kept or there will be a $20 no show fee charged on your next visit in order to compensate your stylist for lost revenue.

I changed my mind and I don’t really like my braid style any more. Can I get my hair redone or can I get a refund?

If you are not satisfied with the service you have received, please notify us immediately prior to leaving. We would like the opportunity to redo the service prior to your departure from our venue. If there are any changes after 1 hour when the service ends, the client will be charged. We do not offer refunds on services.

I (or my team) live outside of Southern California, but we would love to have you come out and braid! Are you available to travel?

Yes, we are available to travel! However, anyone outside of Southern California would include a travel fee, on top of the braiding fee as well. Please email gamedaybraids@gmail.com for more information.

Do you have any tutorials where I can learn to braid myself?

Yes we do! Please check out our YouTube page to see the different braids that we cover. If you do not see a braid style that you’re looking for on our page, make sure to leave a comment on which type of braid style you’d like us to film next!
